Fun Family Things To Do In Tryone

You’ll find Wee Buns Cookery School nestled in the beautiful countryside of County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. With large bright windows, my kitchen looks out onto rolling green fields and the Spoerrin Mountains in the distance so you can sit back and enjoy the view in my cooking or baking classes.  And with summer just around the corner, my family baking classes set up the ideal family staycation for making unforgettable memories. We are just 45 minutes from Belfast and two hours from Dublin.

My spacious and modern kitchen is available for private group bookings, perfect if you want to get all the family together after so much time apart. Alternatively, you can book one of my popular Adult & Child Baking Classes. Take a look at my upcoming classes and see what’s on this summer.

Family Baking Classes

Close to Wee Buns Cookery School in Moy, Co. Tyrone, are plenty of fun family things to do, so you can extend your visit and stay in the area for a few days. You won’t be stuck for ideas to keep the kids entertained or to give mum and dad a break (home-schooling… need I say more!)

Here are some of my favourite places to go with my husband and our twin boys.

Dungannon Park

Make the most of the Irish summer days in Dungannon Park, just a short car ride away from my cookery school. There are plenty of walks, a great children’s play park and a lake where you can feed the ducks.

Ulster American Folk Park

Ulster American Folk Park

A little further away but well worth the drive is the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh. You can easily spend a day there walking around the quaint old cottages, meeting living history characters and learning about the Irish-American emigration in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Linen Green

Okay, this one is more for mum and dad!  But who hasn’t been missing some retail therapy in recent months?  The Linen Green in Moygashel is an outdoor shopping complex made up of many independent retailers and shops you won’t find on the high street.

Todd’s Leap

You’ll have so much fun at Todd’s Leap in Ballygawley with their wide range of activities from archery to zip-lining and even off-road driving. Make sure your phone is fully charged as you’ll be taking photos of lots of laugh out loud moments! And it’s just 20 minutes away from my cookery school.

The Argory

This is a beautiful The Argory country house and estate, and it’s also a great rainy day activity for the family – unfortunately, the sun doesn’t always shine in the summer! You can explore the beautiful interiors of this grand 19th century house, and outside, put your raincoat and wellies on and explore the gardens and courtyard. One of my favourite places for a walk, we often go here on a Sunday morning for a walk along the river; in springtime there is a beautiful display of snowdrops followed by the daffodils and lots of frog spawn if you’re lucky. There is also a lovely little rose garden and a cafe and all facilities as well as a playground.

OM Dark Sky Park & Observatory

Om Dark Sky Park & Observatory is a brand new family experience is due to open this summer. Located at Davagh Forest, it’s one of a few designated ‘dark sky’ places worldwide with no light pollution. It’s a new, fun learning experience for keen astronomers, big or small.

Drum Manor Forest Park

Another chance to get outside in the fresh air and make the most of the long summer days. Drum Manor Forest Park has a large play park, gardens and walks around the manor ruins, and caravan and camping facilities.

I look forward to welcoming you to my kitchen very soon! It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to welcome visitors, and I can’t wait to show off more of my favourite recipes and techniques.

Testimonial

Lovely day at Wee Buns Cookery School with my daughter on the Jam making day. We both really enjoyed the class and learnt a lot from Mary-Ann. Would recommend as a fantastic and tasty way to spend a few hours plus we got to take home lots of jam.
