A hands-on baking class focusing on the wonderful Bramley apples of County Armagh followed by a visit to a beautiful orchard in County Armagh to learn about the history and heritage of Bramley apples .
We will discuss recipes and techniques and make the most of wonderful Northern Irish ingredients.
I will demonstrate a number of recipes making everything form scratch, including:
Apple Tart made with a buttery shortcrust pastry
Potato Apple Bread, a County Armagh speciality
Fruit soda bread
Apple & Ginger Scones
You will be making your own apple and ginger scones and will have these to take home.
The class will begin at 9.30am at the Orchard which is 5 minutes drive from the cookery school on the Armagh side of Moy. The orchard tour will last approximately one hour and participants will then make their own way over to the cookery school for the class to begin straight after the orchard tour.
Tea , coffee and lots of bread , scones and home made jam served !
Recipes subject to change. Suitable for all levels of experience.
Feedback from previous participants.
It’s a relaxed, laid back atmosphere with no pressure on non-bakers like myself and there’s a welcome break mid-morning for tea and scones with a bit of ‘craic’ thrown in.
Our whole group is amazed at how easy the recipes tare and we all trundle off home after the session with a warm paper bag of soda farls and a new-found knowledge and confidence to try something new . Mairead Holland Ulster Gazette
Hi Mary Anne thank you for the wonderful Traditional Baking class, Shauna
What a great day my dad and I had at Wee Buns Cookery School.
Big John went along begrudgingly but ended up having a ball and out-baking the women.. so keen was he that he ended up baking his own wheaten bread the day after as per the recipe we took home. There’s no faking that smile , he’s delighted with himself 🙂
