Bramley apples are the best cooking apple and have a long tradition of growing in Co. Armagh, also known as the orchard county of Ireland. Learn about the history and heritage of Bramley apples in Co. Armagh in a beautiful orchard and then on to the cookery school where I will use the Bramley apples to make some delicious local recipes handed through the generations.

Class Recipes

  • Apple Tart made with a buttery shortcrust pastry
  • Potato Apple Bread, a County Armagh specialty
  • Fruit Soda Bread
  • Apple & Ginger Scones

After tea, coffee and scones fresh from the oven the class begins with a demonstration of all the recipes. We bake from scratch using the best local ingredients and use a traditional griddle for the Potato Apple Bread. You will make your own Soda Bread and Apple and Ginger Scones and will have these to take home.

The class begins at 9.30 am at the Orchard which is 5 minutes drive from the cookery school on the Armagh side of Moy. The orchard tour will last approximately one hour and participants will then make their own way over to the cookery school for the class to begin straight after the orchard tour.
