This is a hands-on class focusing on some of the lovely traditional Irish baking handed down by generations of women not least my own mother and grandmother who made soda farls every day.
We will discuss recipes and techniques and make the most of our wonderful Northern Irish ingredients.
I will demonstrate a number of recipes making everything form scratch, including:
Soda Farls cooked on a griddle
Apple Tart made with a buttery shortcrust pastry
Fruit soda bread
You will be making the treacle scones and fruit soda OR wheaten and will have these to take home.
Tea , coffee and lots of bread , scones and home made jam served !
Recipes subject to change. Suitable for all levels of experience.
Feedback form previous participants.
It’s a relaxed, laid back atmosphere with no pressure on non-bakers like myself and there’s a welcome break mid-morning for tea and scones with a bit of ‘craic’ thrown in.
Our whole group is amazed at how easy the recipes tare and we all trundle off home after the session with a warm paper bag of soda farls and a new-found knowledge and confidence to try something new . Mairead Holland Ulster Gazette
Hi Mary Anne thank you for the wonderful Traditional Baking class, Shauna
What a great day my dad and I had at Wee Buns Cookery School.
Big John went along begrudgingly but ended up having a ball and out-baking the women.. so keen was he that he ended up baking his own wheaten bread the day after as per the recipe we took home. There’s no faking that smile , he’s delighted with himself 🙂
